Just what the doctor ordered
You know what's really nice? Apart from little puppies and old married couples who still hold hands?
Laying in bed listening to the sound of rain on a tin roof. It's been raining here since about 1 a.m. and doesn't look like stopping just yet. The mutants will love it!
Send 'er down, Huey!

Indeedy-doo I mean the cotton; 100% pure, unadulterated genetically modified mutant ninja cotton on this farm, baby.
Actually, 94% mutant ninja cotton and 6% standard typepigeon pea as a trap crop.
It is a long standing tradition in the cotton industry to dupe people into thinking that you grow coloured cotton. However, I think that I am alone in being able to make some people believe that we grow striped cotton.
There is actually a lot of research being conducted into the possibility of growing coloured cotton, particularly blue cotton, in order to reduce the costs involved in dyeing.
Whadday mean the stripey cotton's a joke?
I didn't actually say it was a joke...
BTW, I've got this Opera House I'm trying to unload cheap...
man I just love rain on a tin roof. Unfortunately now I only have a (muted by insulation) tin roof on the back of the house and now where near the bedrooms. I love it so much I often go out to lay on the couch at night when its raining. I don't know what it is but it always makes me feel at peace with the world. Maybe its because I lived the first 20 years of my life in the Otways where it rains 9 months of the year and drips off the trees the other 3. I used to love working in a shed during the day picking over spuds or other stuff or even just having a snooze on a pile of bags with heavy rain on the tin roof and a fire in a four gallon drum.
F.X.,
I grew up in the Strzlecki's, also in spud country. I reckon we could play the Otways off the break when it comes to rain. I agree with you regarding the relaxing qualities of the sound of rain on a tin roof, though. It was very much a part of my every day (night?) experience as a kid.
Adie,
the research has been underway for many years. Apparently yellow and a couple of other colours are viable, but blue is the goal. The colours are not uniform enough to be useful in themselves, but, as blue is the most common colour that cotton is dyed, it may be useful, particularly for denim, where absolute uniformity is not really an issue.
