My guess
George W. Bush.
In a close one that will be dragged through the courts.
Does it make any difference?
Not really, the major parties in most countries these days are interchangeable, more interested in getting into power than with what they're going to do with the power when they get it. Witness Latham's "admitting" his Tasmanian Forestry policy was a mistake because it cost Labor seats. I thought that the idea was to develop the correct policies according to your parties philosophy, then sell those policies; not to develop policies on the basis of popularity and voter attraction.

I'm hoping your wrong about that first bit, but think you;'re pretty on the money there Dirk with the second. It would be nice to see policies developed for the (believed) good of the country, and then defended vigorously, but I'm not sure we'll see it again in our lifetimes.
Too true, I think, Stilt. If you want somebody with ethics and integrity, you have to go to the minors. Trouble is, then you end up with someone like Family First.
At the moment, the Republicans are unofficially claiming the election, but the Dem's aren't conceding. Be interesting to see if this time, the bizarre system they have over there produces the same president that a simple vote tally would. And they call it Democracy.
...I thought that the idea was to develop the correct policies according to your parties philosophy...It is, unless party philosophy has gone hell west and crooked !
JAFA
JAFA,
trouble is EVERY major parties philosophy has gone Hell, west and crooked. Latham ain't Labor, neither is Blair and don't even TRY and tell me that either Bush or Howard are Conservatives, not with their tax and spend it style of government.
Adie,
don't worry about enlightenment, just pray for antibiotics. They're more practical... you can trust your family, but as for them strangers...
