i just live my life, always speak the truth, i don't hide a thing and figure thats the way to be about it. a person in my position doesnt have to lie

You have to get to page11 of this thread before you reach that quote. It's one of the reasons that I like motorcycles and motorcyclists.

I like motorcycles, I just bought my very first. At age 46.

I'm not yet a motorcyclist, but I intend to be before I'm 47. Classes this spring.

Thanks for the link... I lurk about GRO and Bikers Anonymous, but had not heard of Netriders. I've added them to my favourites :)

That story is amazing and chilling and inspiring and disenheartening all at the same time. I cannot imagine being a witness to something so horrendous and not feeling terribly affected by it, let alone being RESPONSIBLE for it. Shock may be attributable, but still, how could you not offer assistance to an injured person?

I have to say that, in my limited experience, motorcyclists seem like incredibly community minded people, generally looking out for each other.

    og,
well done! And welcome to the fold, you'll never regret it. So did you go long, low and slow, or short, mean and fast?
    Hooch,
many years ago a neighbour with whom I had been friendly wanted to leave his car at my place for a few days because he 'had a bit of a bingle and didn't want the missus finding out'
He'd hit (and killed) a cyclist on the freeway. The neighbour ended up in hospital for just over a week.
    Dollop,
it's a combination of having common interests and being marginalised, combined, sad to say, with a biy of wankery. People like to think that they are rebels, even when they aren't.
    Rat,
    yup.

I went cheap. I bought a Suzuki GS 450t at a garage sale for $25. I have invested another $72 in it, so I'm still under $100. It runs out pretty well, after a little labor. I found another bike in a garbage dumpster just like it, and am taking pieces off the "donor" bike, polishing them, and putting them on the running bike.

So how come the comment I posted this morning isn't here, huh? Which one of you bums took it?
    Don'y nobody leave dis room...
Respect, og. I got a lot of time for someone who invests time instead of/ as well as money into a project.
One piece of probably superfluous advice - change all fluids. I do it as a matter of course whenever I pick up a pre-loved anything. Filters, too.

I took it, and I'm not giving it back.

Yeah, I've already changed the oil and brake fluid and will be doing another change as soon as I've gotten some hours on the engine. There's pictures on the blog somewhere. I just hope I can get enough ass-on-seat hours that I don't kill myself on it.
