    What's in a name?

You know, reading blogs is relaxing and sometimes informative but sometimes it just makes you wonder. There are a lot of blogs around written by people whose writing I admire, some of whom also have ideas which, by and large, I can find a degree of agreement with. There is one thing though, that I just don't get... why would any otherwise rational and relatively intelligent adult call themself a Right Wing Death Beast?

I mean, seriously? It sounds like the name of the official Melbourne Grammar School Rap Group. Or a Death-metal band from Montmorency. Or a street-gang at a Blue-Light Disco. Is it supposed to be a clique or club or what? Some of these people are brilliant writers (by no means all of them, some of them shouldn't be allowed out of the house unless they are on a leash) but really...RWDB?...bwahahahaha!

While I'm here, can somebody explain something for me? Why is it that the right wing has all the best writers, but the left wing has all the best music? I'd like an explanation or a guide to left-wing blogs worth reading and right-wing music worth listening to.

Or kinky sex with a norse goddess.

    Either/or, I'm not fussy.

From memory, all the RWDBs started calling themselves that as a kind of in-joke after some lefty labelled them as that. I think it might have been the infamous Niall, but I could be wrong.

I did post a link and a bit about the band RUSH earlier on my site. Not that I'd recommend listening. Depends what you mean by Right Wing Music. Music performed by right wingers or music that is right wing performed by anybody. Its a long rant and I'm tired but Frank Zappa comes to mind. Hero of many sloppy vaguely leftish hippys. Possibly lefty music but its clear Frank would have been a RWDB had he been blogging today.

    CXaz,
glad to hear they're not serious.
    F.X.,
I'll check out the link, I was talking about the music more than the musicians - the left has had anthems from Woody Guthrie to Rage Against The Machine (although I suppose in those cases you can't really split the music from the musicians).
I suppose if you are old you could listen to Wagner.

You must have different ads at your end, here it's a job agency and a mob that sends gifts OS. I did have ads for cattle sperm for a while, that was off-putting.

Caz is right. It was an attempted insult by Niall, popularised by Tim Blair.

Plug, plug, plug... I like to think that I'm both left-wing and readable. However I'm being drawn more towards the centre, accepting more compromises. Extremism just ain't my kick.
